iOS Mobile Developer with Flutter Framework
How Much Does an iOS Developer Cost?
📅 2022.02.13 - 👤 Borbély Viktor
In the past nearly 3 years, I have actively used Google’s solution for mobile development. This is Flutter. Since then, it has become clear that it is not only excellent for writing mobile apps. It can also be used in websites or even desktop applications. The question arises in 2022: can a Flutter mobile developer be a replacement for an iOS mobile app developer?
I chose the iOS developer position in the article because there is great need for them, but they are quite expensive. In salaries, the multiplier can be one and a half to twice as much (Android developer, iOS developer). Is there an alternative and good solution?
How much does an iOS developer cost?
Can a good iOS developer be replaced by a Flutter developer?
The truth is: IT DEPENDS! If we make it dependent on money, then YES is the answer. If we only look at costs and we really need an iOS mobile app, then we need to look in the cross-platform direction.
If a very heavily mobile-optimized solution is needed, then NO (probably)! Very strong mobile solutions can be video streaming, video editing, speech recognition, 3D games, etc. I immediately add that this is not completely the case either. Many services and solutions already use cloud power and take the load off the iPhone.
For everything else, there is the Flutter framework.
Would you hire a Flutter developer instead of an iOS developer?
Indeed, in 2022 it can already be stated that for the price of 1-1.5-2 Flutter developers, you get 5 developers at once!
1-1.5-2 = 5x
This is quite a cryptic sentence, I admit.
The solution to the equation is that it’s not just an iOS developer you get. Through a cross-platform developer, you also get Android (mobile), Web (FrontEnd), Windows, Linux, Mac OS (Desktop). (Of course, it’s an interesting question who develops for desktop nowadays? Google’s February 3rd announcement was exactly about this, that the stable framework came out for Windows.)
It’s an interesting fact that there are few mobile apps that require squeezing the last drop of resources and the last features from the phone. Indeed! The developer’s time is finite, so the number of available developers is also finite.
Good for Startups too?
Today we have that “quick-fast” we need 1-2 apps for validation, cheaply, then let’s move on! Multiple times, repeatedly: new feature -> testing -> new feature -> testing… It’s a big advantage if you don’t have to throw away the prototype after validation. After user tests, you can continue (professionally) from where you left off.
I’ve said it several times, and I’ll write it now, that in a business, a mobile app is just one element. This is a necessary accessory, but it won’t work because of this. However, if there isn’t one, it’s hard to reach users.
So you need the mobile app (Mobile-first approach)!
Conclusion
We’ve covered the topic that seriously affects the iOS developer supply and demand market today. In the meantime, you may not need to look for a native developer, but a reliable, yet uncompromising solution.

But you can get informed in many places, more and more people like to use it. Flutter’s popularity is unbroken in 2022 as well.
