From the chapter contents

  1. Finding the application concept: This chapter encourages the idea owner to first delve deep and think through in detail the basic idea and purpose of their application. In the initial phase, they need to explore and define as well as possible the application’s unique value proposition, target audience, and relationship to competitors.

  2. User needs and market research: In this chapter, the idea owner learns how to conduct thorough market research and discover user needs. It’s important to understand what potential users want and know what solutions already exist in the market.

  3. Generating revenue with the mobile application: A good program can survive if it generates revenue. The application must not only be useful but also profitable. This chapter presents different revenue generation models and helps select the most appropriate one for the given application.

  4. User experience (UX) and user interface (UI) design: The application must be simple and attractive to users. In this chapter, we see examples of how to design intuitive and user-friendly interfaces that promote user satisfaction and long-term commitment.

  5. Interviews and user stories: Through these, we can get closer to users, learn their needs, problems, and better understand how they use (or would use) the application. These conversations have invaluable value during product design.

  6. Mobile application, website, PWA – For an innovator, it’s an important decision what platform to appear on: mobile application, website, or progressive web application (PWA), just to mention the most common. The chapter details the advantages and disadvantages of each solution. From costs, through updatability, to finding developers, there are many aspects of software product development that need to be considered. By the end of this part, it will become clear what is needed.

  7. Low-Code and No-Code solutions: Today, various free, online, and cheap toolkits are available to facilitate the design process. Even without deep programming knowledge.

  8. Building a development team: Behind a successful application, there is always a clever team. If you don’t have thorough knowledge in this area, you need to find them. This chapter provides assistance in how to select the right partners and developers for the project. Let’s speak a common language so we can progress faster.

  9. Mobile applications’ relationship with the outside world: Applications are often connected to other services and systems, such as external servers with databases, APIs. This chapter helps understand these connections and their integration.

  10. Launching the application to market: Once the application is complete, the next step is introducing it to the world. This chapter presents the basic strategies and tactics for successfully launching mobile applications to market.

  11. Estimating development costs: This chapter focuses on how to determine and manage the costs of mobile application development. Estimating development costs is not an easy task, as many factors can influence them, such as the application’s complexity, the selected technology stack, the team’s size and expertise, the planned timeframe, and much more. The chapter presents the basic methods of cost estimation and gives tips on how to plan a realistic budget.

+1 Future trends in mobile application development: The application development field is evolving rapidly, and it’s important to stay updated with the latest trends and technologies. Not to mention the explosive growth of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in 2023. Besides these, chatbot and Augmented Reality (AR) apps are defining. The mobile app market is growing dynamically and will remain dominant for a long time.
